<![CDATA[Some Photographers to Check Out]]>Wed, 15 Feb 2012 12:44:25 -0800http://dcpixelthis.com/1/post/2012/02/some-photographers-to-check-out.htmlLast weekend we talked a bit about three photographers. One of which I could not recall his name. The photographer I wanted to show is Oscar Gustave Rejlander. He is pioneer in photography and started compositing imagery at the advent of photography. Many people think that doctoring imagery and combining imagery is new with Photoshop, but it's part fo the tradition of photography.

The image above is made of over 6 glass plate negatives cut together to make one image.

This image is made from at least 4 plates cut together. The sky and the man behind the curtain are two plates. The image below is one of the version of the sick girl on the chair.

Although I would like you to consider each shot as stand alone image and take the time to compose your imagery in camera, do not feel limited to only that philosophy of image making. Contemporary image making is comprised of multiple images as well as single ones (just like the beginning of photography)
Another Photographer we talked about was Alexander Rodchenko. He as a Russian photographer at the forefront of modern photography and graphic design. Many of photographs were used in posters and other printed media. Cut up and pasted with type and color. Many of his images are from extreme angles with an emphasis on pattern.

Finally we looked at Andre Kertesz as well. His eye for form, design, composition, and humor always inspires me. Here are some of his imagery.

What follows is some selects from the life style demo we did outside with on camera flash triggering our off camera lighting setup.

<![CDATA[Landing Page demo]]>Thu, 27 Oct 2011 23:26:50 -0800http://dcpixelthis.com/1/post/2011/10/landing-page-demo.htmlTwo weeks ago we shot the landing page/banner demo. We put together a very simple set using just foam core and gels. I put together a mock up of what that landing page might look like. I sent the processed images to all of you through my yousendit account. Everyone did a great job shooting that day. And I want to give a extra thanks to Rem for hair & make up, Leilani for terrific styling, and Melissa our talented model.
